Ithaca Restaurant Week November 30 - December 7, 2013 at Rogues'

Image
Ithaca Restaurant week begins this Saturday, November 30. We love this week. It's a chance to say thank you to all our guests with a great deal and some imaginative offerings. We'll be offering 4 courses for $24 and each course will be locally sourced and globally inspired as always, but with a new twist. Since we have our own microbrewery, we've decided to add a beer component to each course, ale infused. Dessert was a challenge, but Chocolate Guinness cake is going to be a the 4th course and it's going to be incredible. Don't miss it! Here's the menu:

Happy Holidays at the Rogues' Harbor Inn in the Heart of the Finger Lakes

Image
Christmas time in the heart of the Finger Lakes at Rogues' We love, love, love the holidays...We decorate, we plan specials, we mull wine,...It's a cozy time of year. We haven't started decorating yet, but that has taken a lot of self control to wait until Thanksgiving is over. Chris and Alex, our brewers,  have crafted our Scotch Ale which is   a full-bodied deep amber brew with a malty caramel and roasted malt flavor. Peated malt provides a hint of smokiness to this winter warmer, making it a great accompaniment to hearty meat dishes and sharp cheeses.   It pairs perfectly with all our holiday favorite dishes: Cranberry Duck Breast, Finger Lakes Pot Roast, Herb Crusted Pork Loin...Oh, the anticipation is killing us. We have even considered your holiday shopping list with new long sleeved t shirts, new style of growlers, and gift cards of any denomination. There's still time to reserve for a holiday party too. Whether it's for the office, family or a big ...

Don't Fear the Wheat!

Image
Rogues' Harbor Brewing's American Wheat Ale When many beer drinkers (especially those newer to the craft beer scene) hear the term wheat beer they immediately cringe, expressing their distaste for that yeasty, bready, sometimes almost banana-like flavor. These signature flavors are characteristics of the German yeast used to brew the classic Weissbier style. This, however, is not true of all wheat beers. Wheat doesn't have a strong flavor in beer, adding more to the mouthfeel and the body. Many European styles of wheat beers get the majority of their well known flavors from that various yeast used during the fermentation. German's tend towards clove or banana, Belgians will get some of that clove, with spicy or bubblegum like notes. American wheat beers, however, are a different beast entirely. Outside of the fact they have a large portion of wheat used in the grain bill, they are completely different from their European cousins. American wheat beers avoid those...

Mother's Day 2013 in the Heart of the Finger Lakes

Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto We love Mother's Day, so much so that we open early at noon to serve dinner all day. It's one of those days at the inn where every table seems to know each other. The asparagus is in season and even the trees have leafed out early just for the occasion. Our chef has created some special offerings with Mom in mind. Flavorful, healthy and not too heavy: Cream of Asparagus Soup and Shrimp Cocktail for appetizers. Entree offerings are Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto with suggested pairings of Treleaven Chardonnay and Our Hell on Wheels Wit. We're also offering Scallops Solera with the suggested pairings of Goose Watch Pinot Grigio and Our Cayuga Cream Ale. Fresh seafood on a warm sunny day with a drink in hand is the perfect match. Our featured dessert is our chef's sinful dark chocolate chunk cheesecake with fresh strawberries on top, and fresh whipped cream of course. Our New Spring Menu has plenty of new dishes to try as well www.rogueshar...
